Fr. Minh Le, SJ

Entered Society: August 24, 2013

As a Jesuit: Father Le taught and coached tennis at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois; and experienced transformative summer immersion experiences in Peru, the Kohima region of Northeast India and Vietnam.

Assignment Following Ordination: Father Le will pursue a master’s degree in fine arts at San José State University.

My vocation to be a Jesuit has been sustained by many people along the way. I am thankful for my family who raised me in the faith through their example of sacrifice and perseverance. I am thankful for the Palen family who welcomed and gave my family a place to call home when we immigrated to Minnesota. I am thankful for my Jesuit formators and brothers who have encouraged me to be the best Jesuit that I can be: compassionate, competent and creative.

I am thankful for the people of God who have supported me and reminded me that my vocation is not my own. In their own way, they have loved me into being. I am the man that I am today because of them. God’s generosity and abundance flows in and through them. To them, I say thank you, and on the day of ordination, it is them that I bring to the table of the Lord.

The first Jesuit that I met was Fr. Tho Vu, SJ. He opened the door to my exploration of the Jesuits. I read up on Jesuit history and was drawn to the Jesuit saints of the past such as Francis Xavier, Matteo Ricci and Edmund Campion. Jesuit exemplars, both present and past, through their life, ministry and spirituality inspired me to listen to God’s call. These exemplars still journey with me, and I am happy to call them my Jesuit brothers.
